Joanna's story

Since then, we’ve torn apart every belief that held me back:

• I can’t speak up
• I can’t do group
• I can’t facilitate
• I can’t run training
• I’d never be able to stand in front of a room and speak
• I’m not a business person – I’m an employee type or person

I’ve now done every one of those things.

And if I can – with all those beliefs – others can too.

If I could go back and whisper something to the version of me starting out, it would be this:

• Those beliefs aren’t facts
• They’re just thoughts
• And you get to rewrite them

You don’t have to be the confident one. Or the articulate one. Or the person who always looks like they’ve got it together.

I’m not any of those things all the time.

I’m tired. I doubt myself. I don’t have it all figured out.

And still…. I’m doing it.

Because it matters.

Because someone trying their best gives others permission too.
